Very Important Midian News!!

sistercarrionIt's with some trepidation that i write this post, so please bear with me.. I've been thinking of the best way to put this for some hours now. Well, I'll just say the most important news first eh?
MIDIAN IS NO LONGER RUNNING AT HEV@N & HELL, FLEET STREET, LIVERPOOL.
Management at Hev'n and Hell have approached us and stated that from now on, they would need us to pay between £400-£500 per Midian in order to retain our booking there. This would be to top up what we already make over the bar, in order to match what the club needs to be taking supposedly to make ends meet. This is due, according to the management, to them not making enough over the bar takings over all weekend nights (ie not just us) in general for some time. There is nothing we can do about this, even if we had full capacity, it still wouldn't meet what the club are needing currently. We don't have this much to spend for our booking @ Hev'n and Hell, and putting up our door fee by as much as we'd need to wouldn't be fair on our regulars.
Needless to say, we're gutted about this. We thought we had a permanent home at Hev'n and Hell, and have settled well there. We've had to think long and hard about what we do from here on with Midian. Due to the short span of notice we have been given (less than 2 weeks) we had two choices:
a/Cancel Midian completely... which we really really didn't want to do..
b/Look for somewhere temporarily so that we can still run Midian whilst looking for a permanent home..
Luckily, i'm pleased to announce that we've been able to sort out b/ !!
A lot of you will be aware of the Hex venue in Birkenhead, where we currently run the After Dark alternative nights. As well as the main room, they also have a 100 capacity smaller side room. They've been very good to us, and offered to host us there for this forthcoming Midian on SATURDAY 9TH JULY. Apart from the venue, everything else will remain as usual. We will have exclusive use of this room for the night, and separate entry/payment. Upon being hand-stamped for Midian, you will also be able to investigate the main room for free if you so wish. Anyone wishing entry to Midian from upstairs will have to pay a little extra.
We appreciate this is not an ideal situation. We want to remain in Liverpool, but there is a distinct lack of venues offering a free room for a goth night on the dates that we need. We really want Midian to continue whilst we look for somewhere. We are currently in the middle of negotiating a deal, whereby we can sort out subsidised travel back into Liverpool after Midian. We will also bring down the door fee slightly, to help out with this. We'd also appreciate people organising car/taxi shares in advance. If your group of friends has a seat available, please let everyone know, as it could mean the difference between someone else coming along. I'm currently gathering all the info on the tunnel bus, that runs from the nearby Bus Station back into Liverpool.

So, important details to know:
Midian will NOT be running on Saturday 9th July @ Hev'n and Hell, Liverpool.
It WILL however be running at Hex club, Birkenhead in their Black Room bar on the same date. Hex is a large metal/rock/alternative venue on the Wirral.
There will be travel back to Liverpool from the club. Alternatively, there is a black cab rank very close by, as well as a private hire rank, and nearby tunnel bus stop. Hex is also less than 5 mins from Birkenhead central train station.
Your DJs will remain the same, sistercarrion and Psychomagnet, as will the music policy.
There is a dancefloor available in the room, plus lighting and full pa etc. The decor is all black flames and black light :)
We will be doing our best to secure future Liverpool dates for Midian, and if the situation changes with Hev'n and Hell, we have been told that we can return there.
Hex is situated at 3-5 Thomas Street, Birkenhead CH41 5DD Tel 0151 649 9966
Doors open 9pm-2am

AFAIK some other nights at Hev'n and Hell currently remain unaffected by the changes ie Sanctuary and Mercy are still running there. However, Whiplash have also cancelled with Hev'n and Hell, as have several other regular nights. If there's anything that anyone would like to ask about the changes, then please feel free, we understand this is going to come as a shock to a lot of people. Please pass this info on to any you feel may be affected...

Date: 2005-07-01 09:34 am (UTC)Hex is a far better venue in so many ways - easy to get to & from even from this side of the water,and it's much much safer as there's no need to walk through crowds of narrow minded snerker's.
I was going up to York to Darklands but however it's much more important to get as many people to Midian on the 9th.

Date: 2005-07-04 12:08 pm (UTC)I was interested in Hex since you said it's also a live venue to pass onto Alex from Sexydeath (http://www.sexydeath.com). Don't really know any other places in Liverpool that might be suitable. I'll hopefully be up for Midian/After Dark soon anyway, heard good things about both.
Hope you're able to find a permanent home for Midian soon, lots of venues in the North seem to be doing similar things at the moment.
