Ga! It could be worse, you might have come home from shopping only to find you weren't allowed back in your street, and you'd have to loiter about elsewhere. (Happened this way when I was a youngster, I wasn't allowed into my street cos of some train crash. No one hurt, but spilled oil everywhere and danger of explosions.)
Actually, come to think of it, that's no consolation. Stay away from the windows and don't pop any crisp packets.
